When should I Book my Wedding Florist?

Specifically for the Baltimore/Maryland area, we typically see surges at a few different times of the year. Maryland heat gets pretty intense in the Summer, and a lot of Marylanders go away for summer vacation. Winter can be too cold, and although there are the occasional NYE or winter holiday, the cold weather seems to turn away most couples as they lean into the holiday season with family and loved ones. Typically, florists and wedding vendors alike experience “on” and “off” seasons. This gives time for us to all recoup and recover and start planning for the upcoming season or year.

Baltimore wedding seasons: Spring and Fall

Going even a bit deeper into the seasons we see a few specific dates and months that book up first/are in high demand.

Most Popular Months: late May, early June, September/October, early November

For the most popular wedding months, try to book your florist 8-9 months in advance. The sooner the better - especially if you have your eye on a specific florist. Typically, 6-9 months is the ideal booking time. But we have seen anywhere from 3 months to a year and a half out! For smaller orders, 3-4 months is fine, but there is no guarantee that your florist will have your date available. If flowers and decor are a high priority, we appreciate plenty of time to design and source everything needed for your special day.

Depending on the size of the business, some florists only take 1 wedding per day, or even per weekend. At Petals by Alex, we only book one wedding per day, and no more than 2 events in a week in order to guarantee our undivided attention for each of our couples. This also allows us to have dedicated time to plan, design and source everything we need for each wedding or event.

We know making these decisions is a lot of pressure, so give yourself the time you deserve, book in advance, and let your florist guide take your vision and do the heavy lifting.

Happy Wedding!

xo,

Alex
